What is intermittent hypoxic therapy?

The science thinAir builds on, explained simply.

Good health depends not just on how much oxygen you get, but on how well your body adapts to changes in it. Inside every cell is an oxygen-sensing system that helps regulate energy, repair, blood-vessel growth and recovery. thinAir is designed to train that system.

thinAir Adaptive Oxygen Therapy is a personalised therapy designed to train your body to use oxygen more efficiently. By reducing inflammation in the brain and body and supporting cell repair and regeneration, we enable you to live life to the full. Powered by our Adaptive Intelligent Software, thinAir delivers award-winning science that has the power to transform your health or athletic performance.

The science behind it won the 2019 Nobel Prize: how cells sense oxygen.

What a session is like

No exercise needed. You sit in a comfortable chair and breathe through a handheld mask, alternating between cycles of reduced-oxygen air and normal air, while the software does the rest. Most people find it very relaxing. You're welcome to get in touch and book a trial session.

The intelligence behind every session

Our Adaptive Intelligent Software is the brain of thinAir. It measures, learns and adapts in real time to deliver the right oxygen, for your body, every time.

  • Measures you: reads your body's response to oxygen throughout the session.
  • Learns continuously: builds a picture of how your body responds, session after session.
  • Adapts instantly: adjusts the oxygen you breathe moment to moment.
  • Optimises each session: tunes every session around recovery and performance.
  • Tracks your progress: records data from every session so you can see how you're doing.
  • Monitors safety: multi-level safety monitoring runs throughout, every session.

When will I feel it?

Most clients start to experience the full benefits after approximately 10 sessions. However, individuals with chronic inflammatory conditions, such as arthritis, persistent pain, sleep disturbances, or multiple sclerosis, may notice improvements sooner. Chronic inflammation is widely recognised as a root cause in many health concerns. By supporting the reduction of excess inflammation and optimising oxygen efficiency and utilisation, thinAir will make a significant improvement to your quality of life.

After completing the initial 15 sessions, we recommend a maintenance "Top-Up" programme every 6–8 weeks to help sustain results. Ongoing maintenance supports the body in maintaining balanced inflammatory responses and helps prevent the gradual return of unwanted inflammation in the brain and body.
